Professional Expertise

Master of Human Metabolism and Nutrition

One of my primary goals as a psychiatrist is to address a common, yet often overlooked, challenge: the metabolic side effects and weight changes that can accompany psychiatric medications.

My approach to psychiatry is informed by my background in Human Nutrition and my experience at the Comprehensive Weight Control Center in Manhattan. While psychiatric medications are powerful tools for healing, I recognize they often come with the added stress of weight gain and metabolic shifts.

I’ve made it a core part of practice to minimize, and openly discuss the implications of this burden. By integrating evidence-based nutritional and weight management strategies into our work, I aim to provide a more balanced form of care—one where we manage your symptoms effectively while proactively protecting your metabolic health.

Psychiatry Training

I am currently a third-year Psychiatry Resident at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where I provide advanced mental health care in one of the country’s most rigorous clinical settings. While I move toward board eligibility and independent practice in 2027, my training is defined by a deep dive into the full spectrum of psychiatric acuity and innovation.

My experience at New York-Presbyterian spans the most critical areas of modern medicine:

  • Emergency & Acute Care: Managing high-acuity psychiatric crises in the CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program) and overseeing complex cases in Inpatient Care.

  • Consultation-Liaison (CL) Service: Collaborating with medical and surgical teams to treat the intersection of physical illness and mental health.

  • Interventional Treatments: Gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge modalities, including Ketamine, ECT, and TMS, for treatment-resistant conditions.

Advanced Psychotherapy Training

I believe that a truly comprehensive psychiatrist must be as skilled in the "chair" as they are with a prescription pad. I am privileged to be trained face-to-face by giants in the field of psychiatry, including Drs. Otto Kernberg MD, Richard Friedman MD, and Frank Yeomans MD, PhD. This mentorship informs my practice across multiple modalities:

  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Deeply exploring the roots of character and personality.

  • Evidence-Based Frameworks: Proficiency in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).

Currently, I operate a supervised independent practice within our Outpatient Department. This role allows me to manage a diverse longitudinal caseload, conducting weekly intake evaluations across the lifespan—including Child and Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric, and Peri/Post-partum (Reproductive) Psychiatry. By balancing this broad clinical exposure with my specialized background in nutrition, I am dedicated to delivering comprehensive, evidence-based treatment that meets the evolving needs of my patients in New York City.
